Many of us have experienced microaggressions in personal and professional settings, and have likely unintentionally impacted others in microaggressive ways whether we realize it or not. This highly experiential workshop will guide participants through strategies for recognizing, navigating, and processing microaggressions in group settings. Grounded in somatic practices with an anti-racist lens, participants will gain a deeper understanding of what to do during these experiences from varying positions as group facilitators, behavioral health professionals, and people engaging in the complexities of life.
Learning Objectives:
Identify microaggressions, and understand how they are harmful to individuals and groups from an ethical standpoint.
An understanding of how somatic practices can support self and others when microaggressions occur.
Practice noticing, identifying, and sharing our embodied experience.
Practice somatic and facilitation skills that can be used when microaggressions occur or when processing past microaggressions.
